CAROL TATTERSALL

BRANCH MANAGER, YORK

After 20 years in the IT industry, I joined the care sector in 2017. I can honestly say that this decision for me has been a revelation, I am passionate about my job, the carers and the client’s that we support. My only regret is that I did not do it earlier.

My first role was as Care Assistant at a private health care company. I enjoyed this role immensely and progressed to become a Senior Carer taking on more responsibility, such as client medication management. After gaining much practical experience I then moved to another healthcare company as a PA to the MD/Senior Care manager to further my knowledge and skills within the coordination, planning, and safety elements of care delivery.

I joined Prestige Nursing & Care in February 2020 as a Field Care Supervisor. This role entailed weekly visits to Carers and clients and developing relationships to enable a solid understanding of each individual client's needs. I then took on the role of Care Planner before being promoted to Branch manager of the York branch.
During the last year, I have assisted in managing complex home care services which I find extremely rewarding. I am proud that we can provide care packages to people at home as I have a real passion for clients being able to stay in their own homes for as long as it is safe to do so. I am always looking to develop my skills and knowledge so I can continue to support the Carers to be the best they can be and deliver the values of service quality that Prestige Nursing & Care are renowned for.

Emilie has completed post-graduate study in Children and Young People’s Palliative care and Teaching and assessing in Practice, and is currently undertaking a further module in Evidencing work-based learning at the University of the West of England.

CARE MANAGEMENT IN YORK AND NORTH YORKSHIRE

Our responsive and reliable care at home service in York means we can put care and support in place quickly and in many cases within 24-hours.   Depending on your needs a comprehensive assessment will be conducted by either a registered nurse or our local care expert.  We can conduct the assessment at your home, in hospital or in any specialist care setting if you are awaiting discharge back to your own home, enabling a plan of care and support to be developed that meets all your needs.

Our approach to care planning, whether it is for an hourly home care service, respite care or a permanent live-in care arrangement ensures we capture all your preferences and wishes so you can live a contented life in the comfort of your own home.  We take time to find the carer that would best meet your care and support needs, making sure they are closely aligned with how you wish to live your life. Once care is in place, our team in York made up of care and clinical experts provide you, your family and our carer with an abundance of on-going support, giving you peace of mind that you or your loved one is receiving the very best home care.

COST OF OUR CARE IN York

The cost of our care is dependent on the level of care and support you require.  If you are receiving our hourly care service, the overall cost will be determined by the number of visits and frequency of visits to you at home. Our experts will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your needs at your home, or in hospital if you are awaiting discharge to truly understand what you need and therefore how much care at home will cost.

We know that the cost of our care in Leeds is very competitive when compared with other home care providers in the area.  It is worth noting that when comparing the cost of home care with a care package in a care home, that the fee you pay for home care is actually for the care and support you receive.  In a care home your weekly fee mainly covers your accommodation, food and social activities with the care package being only a small part of what you pay.

You may be entitled to either social care funding, healthcare funding or Government funding that could contribute to the cost of care at home.  If you are faced with having to finance your own home care (known as self-funding care), there are initiatives available to you, including care fees annuities or equity release schemes that could provide the funds you need for your care and support.
