KIND WORDS FROM ONE OF OUR CLIENTS IN MANCHESTER

“This case has been extremely complex, in terms of the young person’s disability, health needs, family dynamics and safeguarding concerns. Your team had a short transition from the previous care provider. However, they understood the young person’s complex needs straight away, communicating any concerns effectively and were open and honest with the parents. This case has been a large care package which has needed commitment and your team provided that.

The whole team have worked incredibly hard and have been proactive in multi-agency working, which has provided a positive outcome for this young person.”

REGIONAL CLINICAL LEAD

I am a qualified nurse and specialist community public health nurse (dual qualified) with experience working in a variety of settings. Following completion of a nursing degree, I started my nursing career as an Intensive care nurse within the NHS where I looked after critically ill patients.

To advance my knowledge and education I undertook a master’s to become a specialist community public health nurse and community nurse prescriber. In this role I completed health needs assessments on a community and individual level and implemented health activities that would improve the public health in the area I served.

Following this I worked in a private healthcare organisation managing complex community health care packages for clients who required nursing and complex care within their own home.

My previous role before joining Prestige Nursing & Care was as the Clinical Lead Nurse in a residential and day educational setting for young people with complex health needs and learning disabilities. I designed and implemented a clinical service and transformed clinical practice within the service, which led to multiple service improvements and positive health outcomes for our service users.

As a Regional Clinical Lead with Prestige, I provide professional leadership and operational management to the registered nursing teams. I ensure clinical care in my region is safe and of a high standard, whilst leading a continuous cycle of on-going improvement.

I have worked at Prestige Nursing & Care since 2010 when I joined as a franchisee with my brother, Paul. Since joining we have developed the branch from the ground up and we now deliver over 4000 hours per week of care and employ over 180 people. In that time, I have achieved my Level-5 in the Leadership and Management of a Care service and I am on the board of Trustees as Treasurer for Headway Salford, a charity close to my heart because of the work we do in the field of Acquired Brain Injury.

I am passionate about delivering a service that makes other people’s lives easier, be that patients, commissioners, or families. I always strive to for us to be easy to deal with and provide a service that people want to keep on using or come back to for other clients they commission for time and time again. I firmly believe we are one of the most responsive and diverse care agencies you could work with and our customer experience is at the heart of everything we do.

This regional group is affiliated to Rare Dementia Support (RDS), a world-leading UK-based service provided by the UCL Dementia Research Centre (DRC) funded by The National Brain Appeal.

She was a committee member on the recently published NICE Guideline for Supporting adult carers [NG150] and is currently working with the NICE Quality Standards Advisory Committee for this guideline. I am an Adult Registered Nurse, having qualified from Sheffield University in 2008 with an Adult Nursing Diploma. I continued with my studies to achieve my nursing degree in 2009. Whilst completing my studies I worked at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield on the acute medical ward supporting patients with clostridium difficile. As a new ward specifically caring for patients with this condition it was a challenging environment for me to develop my nursing skills.

I then decided to leave the NHS and joined a nursing home as Deputy Manager, caring for those with clinical needs, as well as those living with dementia. The home re-registered as a residential home, so as I wanted to continue nursing, I sought my next role.

Looking for a new challenge I relocated and took on a role as a Dialysis Nurse in Skegness, which I found hugely rewarding as it presented new challenges for me. However, I missed my family in Yorkshire so moved back in 2017 and joined Prestige Nursing & Care as a Registered Nurse supporting the North region to deliver high-quality complex care to adults and children. I feel very supported in my role at Prestige, and the team is dedicated to providing the high standards of nursing care I am passionate about.

CARE MANAGEMENT IN MANCHESTER

Our responsive and reliable care at home service in Manchester means we can put care and support in place quickly and in many cases within 24-hours.   Depending on your needs a comprehensive assessment will be conducted by either a registered nurse or our local care expert.  We can conduct the assessment at your home, in hospital or in any specialist care setting if you are awaiting discharge back to your own home, enabling a plan of care and support to be developed that meets all your needs.

Our approach to care planning, whether it is for an hourly home care service, respite care or a permanent live-in care arrangement ensures we capture all your preferences and wishes so you can live a contented life in the comfort of your own home.  We take time to find the carer that would best meet your care and support needs, making sure they are closely aligned with how you wish to live your life. Once care is in place, our team in Manchester made up of care and clinical experts provide you, your family and our carer with an abundance of on-going support, giving you peace of mind that you or your loved one is receiving the very best home care.

COST OF OUR CARE IN MANCHESTER

The cost of our care is dependent on the level of care and support you require.  If you are receiving our hourly care service, the overall cost will be determined by the number of visits and frequency of visits to you at home. Our experts will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your needs at your home, or in hospital if you are awaiting discharge to truly understand what you need and therefore how much care at home will cost.

We know that the cost of our care in Manchester is very competitive when compared with other home care providers in the area.  It is worth noting that when comparing the cost of home care with a care package in a care home, that the fee you pay for home care is actually for the care and support you receive.  In a care home your weekly fee mainly covers your accommodation, food and social activities with the care package being only a small part of what you pay.

You may be entitled to either social care funding, healthcare funding or Government funding that could contribute to the cost of care at home.  If you are faced with having to finance your own home care (known as self-funding care), there are initiatives available to you, including care fees annuities or equity release schemes that could provide the funds you need for your care and support.
