EXPERT PAEDIATRIC CARE AT HOME, FOR ALL OF LIFE
Prestige Nursing & Care are experts in providing specialist paediatric care at home to children and young people affected by a range of conditions.
We are trusted by our clients, their families, commissioning groups and case managers to provide competent and compassionate paediatric care that is focused on improving health and overall well-being – and all in the place children love most, their own home.
We work with children at all stages of their development, from babies to adolescents supporting their transition into adulthood. Our focus is to keep children requiring complex paediatric care at home where they should be, with their families, and to support their growth and well-being.
WHAT IS PAEDIATRIC CARE?
Paediatrics refers to the area of medicine that manages medical conditions that affect infants, children and young people up to the age of 18. Paediatric care is holistic and considers not just the symptoms of the condition or disability a child is living with, but covers other factors including mental well-being, socialisation and educational development. The goal of paediatric care is to allow a child to live as normal a life as possible.
Paediatric care can be provided in several different settings, including general hospitals, community settings and in a child’s own home with care provided by a specialist care provider, like Prestige Nursing & Care.
Nurse-led paediatric care at home is led and managed by a registered nurse who is highly experienced. The registered nurse guides and oversees the clinical care provided by a trained carer.
Nurse-led paediatric care requires specialist expertise and knowledge to ensure a high-quality service is delivered with clinical intervention that is both safe and effective, whilst positively enhancing the experience for the person receiving care. The nursing care service provided must be able to identify changes in health and evolve the care provided as needs change.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PAEDIATRIC CARE AT HOME?
Whether you could use an extra helping hand at home or need help with your child’s transition into adulthood, there are many compelling reasons to consider paediatric care:
- Support that is tailored to you – We create bespoke care plans that consider the physical, emotional and social needs of your child and the practical needs of the whole family. Our one-to-one care is highly personalised according to your family’s unique needs.
- Specialist support for complex conditions – Our carers have unrivalled expertise in the care of conditions that affect children and are led by an experienced registered nurse.
- Enjoy some respite – Paediatric care allows families and caregivers to take a short break from their caregiving duties, so they can rest and recharge. Many families say that regular respite allows them to provide better support to their loved ones.
- Planning for the future – Home care allows you to proactively plan for the future when you may not be the primary caregiver for your loved one.
- Family involvement – Our approach is family centred and we work closely with the children and young people in our care, their parents and families to provide clinical care of the highest quality.
HOW WE PROVIDE PAEDIATRIC CARE AT HOME
Our trusted and established paediatric care service can be provided in the following ways for those needing paediatric care:

Paediatric care at home can be provided from a 60 minute visit up to as many hours/visits throughout the day as you require, one day or several days of the week. For those who have complex needs, hourly care can be provided over 24 hours.
- Respite care is a short-term arrangement after hospital discharge to rehabilitate or when a family carer needs a break from their caring role. It is also an ideal service for families who wish to assess whether care at home is the right care choice for them.

COMPETENT AND COMPASSIONATE PAEDIATRIC CARERS
When you choose Prestige Nursing & Care, you can be reassured that your carer is experienced and expertly trained to provide the support you need, to the high standards you should expect.
If you are receiving complex care at home, the carers we choose to support your needs will have at least six months care or health sector experience before they come to care for you. In addition to completing our induction training programme, which goes above mandatory requirements, they are trained by our registered nurses, clinical experts and other healthcare professionals involved in providing care to a specific client. This hands-on nurse training means our carers can competently undertake a range of clinical interventions.
We adopt a bespoke approach to training that ensures our carers have the knowledge, skills and aptitude to deliver high-quality complex care that meets the very specific needs of our clients. Through our unrivalled supervision and clinical oversight carers can adapt their approach and evolve the care they provide to meet changing needs.
We are very proud of our carers – each and every one of them is dedicated to providing compassionate, sensitive and dignified complex care at home that means our clients live a fulfilled and meaningful life, with independence and choice, for all of life.
WORKING IN COLLABORATION WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS
We work collaboratively with our clients and their families to develop a thorough care and support plan that accurately reflects a person’s holistic needs. We also adopt a partnership approach to working with local authority partners, NHS services, multidisciplinary teams, therapists and other community bodies involved in a person’s care.
This means we can provide continuity of care ensuring the right care is in place at the right time, whilst responding efficiently to changing needs and strengthening care provision when required.
We work in partnership with other healthcare professionals, multidisciplinary teams, commissioning groups and other therapy providers involved in our client’s care to ensure an integrated and holistic approach to the paediatric care we provide.
Once a child reaches adulthood at 18 years old, we work closely with all professionals involved in their care to ensure an effective transition into adult care services that offers continuity and consistency of care.
COST OF PAEDIATRIC CARE
The cost of complex care is dependent on the level of care and support you require. If you are receiving our hourly nurse-led care the overall cost will be determined by the number of visits and frequency of visits to you at home. Our experts will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your needs at your home, or in hospital if you are awaiting discharge to truly understand what you need and therefore how much complex care at home will cost.
