I began my nursing career over 20 years ago having qualified with a BSc Honours Degree in nursing from Luton University.

I really loved working in the community so worked as a District Nurse for many years as I particularly enjoyed looking after people in their own homes, rather than in a hospital setting. I gained many nursing skills and lots of experience during this time across a wide range of nursing practices.

After I had my family, I started a nursing role with the leading palliative care charity, Marie Curie, providing palliative and terminal care, again for people in their own homes. It was a very rewarding job and I stayed in the role for five years until January 2020, when I felt that working nights no longer worked for me.

From 2020 I moved to work in a nursing home in a managerial position, but my heart remained in working a community setting supporting people to live well and with independence in their own homes.

I recently joined Prestige Nursing & Care as a Regional Nurse in Dartford and Chingford. I love this position as I can continue to support people in their own home, as well as train and support carers new techniques and best practice nursing care, which is incredibly rewarding.

I began adult nursing in 2004 having previously spent around 20 years as a veterinary nurse in mixed practice. Since qualifying with a Dip. HE Nursing (Adult) from Plymouth University, I have gone on to gain experience in surgical urological care, including brachytherapy and hormonal implantation for control of prostate and bladder cancers.  I also spent six years working in adult intensive and high dependency care for the NHS.  This discipline involves care of the critically unwell involving expert and close monitoring of chemically induced coma care.

Throughout my career, I have developed and maintained a passion for teaching and have coached and mentored many members of both professional and allied staff in order to reach their potential.  In my spare time, I actively volunteer for Cancer Research UK, and am Vice-Chairlady for the Bridgwater Friends branch in Somerset, which despite being small is very busy and the branch has recently celebrated raising one million pounds for the main charity.

As a Regional Clinical Lead with Prestige, I provide professional leadership and operational management to the registered nursing workforce, across the South West Region.   Working alongside our expert regional nurse team I support all aspects of complex care provision ensuring every client receives compassionate high-quality care which is evidence based and aligned with best national practice guidance.

I have over 18 years of paediatric nursing experience gained within a variety of care and health settings, both acute and within the community.

My nursing career began as a rotational general paediatric nurse in a hospital, working with babies, children and families with respiratory, neuro- rehabilitation, orthopaedic, metabolic, gastrointestinal and haematology / oncology issues.

After gaining nine years nursing experience within general paediatrics, I spent the next seven years working as a haemoglobinopathy nurse specialist for children and families with genetic blood disorders in both the community and acute setting. This made me very much aware of the impact of living with a long-term medical diagnosis for both the child and their family.

Prior to joining Prestige, I spent two years working with children and their families with genetic metabolic conditions which is a life-limiting condition. In my role as Registered Nurse at Prestige my goal is to bring my wealth of paediatric nursing experience to help carers to provide the highest quality nurse-led care to the children we care for, whilst supporting their families.

CARE MANAGEMENT IN CHINGFORD AND EAST LONDON

Our responsive and reliable care at home service in Chingford means we can put care and support in place quickly and in many cases within 24-hours. Depending on your needs a comprehensive assessment will be conducted by either a registered nurse or our local care expert. We can conduct the assessment at your home, in hospital or in any specialist care setting if you are awaiting discharge back to your own home, enabling a plan of care and support to be developed that meets all your needs.

Our approach to care planning, whether it is for an hourly home care service, respite care or a permanent live-in care arrangement ensures we capture all your preferences and wishes so you can live a contented life in the comfort of your own home.  We take time to find the carer that would best meet your care and support needs, making sure they are closely aligned with how you wish to live your life. Once care is in place, our team in Chingford made up of care and clinical experts provide you, your family and our carer with an abundance of on-going support, giving you peace of mind that you or your loved one is receiving the very best home care.

COST OF OUR CARE IN CHINGFORD

The cost of our care is dependent on the level of care and support you require.  If you are receiving our hourly care service, the overall cost will be determined by the number of visits and frequency of visits to you at home. Our experts will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your needs at your home, or in Wanstead Hospital if you are awaiting discharge to truly understand what you need and therefore how much care at home will cost.

We know that the cost of our care in Chingford is very competitive when compared with other home care providers in the area.  It is worth noting that when comparing the cost of home care with a care package in a care home, that the fee you pay for home care is for the care and support you receive.  In a care home your weekly fee mainly covers your accommodation, food and social activities with the care package being only a small part of what you pay.

You may be entitled to either social care funding, healthcare funding or Government funding that could contribute to the cost of care at home.  If you are faced with having to finance your own home care (known as self-funding care), there are initiatives available to you, including care fees annuities or equity release schemes that could provide the funds you need for your care and support.
