MEET YOUR TEAM IN GLOUCESTERSHIRE ANDSOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE
I have worked for Prestige Nursing & Care for almost 20 years. My previous experience prior to this was working in nursing and residential care homes as a Care Assistant. Care has, and always will be my absolute passion and I strive to make a difference every day.
When I first joined Prestige, I delivered care to clients at home and within mental health settings. In 2013 I became the Branch Manager and have achieved my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management, passed a MAPA (Management of Actual or Potential Aggression) qualification and completed NCFE in medication, mental health and recruitment training. I am also a dementia friend.
I am proud to be the Branch Manager in Gloucestershire as I share the same vision both the company and the team here to deliver the very highest standards of care to our clients.
I began adult nursing in 2004 having previously spent around 20 years as a veterinary nurse in mixed practice. Since qualifying with a Dip. HE Nursing (Adult) from Plymouth University, I have gone on to gain experience in surgical urological care, including brachytherapy and hormonal implantation for control of prostate and bladder cancers. I also spent six years working in adult intensive and high dependency care for the NHS. This discipline involves care of the critically unwell involving expert and close monitoring of chemically induced coma care.
Throughout my career, I have developed and maintained a passion for teaching and have coached and mentored many members of both professional and allied staff in order to reach their potential. In my spare time, I actively volunteer for Cancer Research UK, and am Vice-Chairlady for the Bridgwater Friends branch in Somerset, which despite being small is very busy and the branch has recently celebrated raising one million pounds for the main charity.
As a Regional Clinical Lead with Prestige, I provide professional leadership and operational management to the registered nursing workforce, across the South West Region. Working alongside our expert regional nurse team I support all aspects of complex care provision ensuring every client receives compassionate high-quality care which is evidence based and aligned with best national practice guidance.
Emile joined Prestige as the Regional Paediatric Nurse for the South West region in December 2020 before moving to the role of Lead Nurse for Education and Training in May 2021 and is responsible for overseeing all clinical elements of training and development, including both adult and paediatrics.
Emilie qualified as a Children’s Nurse in 2012, and started her career on a General medical ward in Bristol Children's Hospital and then moved to the Children’s Hospice, where she spent years, providing both complex medical care, end of life care, and bereavement support to children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. In this role, she worked both clinically and in the role of practice educator, developing and implementing training packages for the care team.
Emilie has completed post-graduate study in Children and Young People’s Palliative care and Teaching and assessing in Practice, and is currently undertaking a further module in Evidencing work-based learning at the University of the West of England.
Passionate about clinical education, she enjoys seeing people learn something new, or consolidating their skills to ensure that they are consistently delivering the best possible care. She aims to standardise training across the organisation, ensuring that we can deliver the safest and most effective care to all.
Sue has worked at Prestige Nursing & Care since 2018. She is a registered mental health nurse and has over 20 years’ experience supporting individuals and families affected by dementia.
During this time, Sue has held positions in community mental health services, healthcare research and higher education. Her doctorate focused on resilience and well-being in friends and family members who provide care and support to a person living with dementia.
Sue’s role at Prestige focuses on ensuring our services enable people with dementia to remain in their own homes, receiving person-centred care that builds their confidence, skills and promotes well-being. Sue set up a carers support group for families living with a rare dementia in 2017. This regional group is affiliated to Rare Dementia Support (RDS), a world-leading UK-based service provided by the UCL Dementia Research Centre (DRC) funded by The National Brain Appeal.
She was a committee member on the recently published NICE Guideline for Supporting adult carers [NG150] and is currently working with the NICE Quality Standards Advisory Committee for this guideline. Sue has worked as a Specialist Advisor to the Care Quality Commission since 2013, supporting the Commission’s regulatory activity in adult social care services for people with living dementia.
I always knew I wanted to be a children’s nurse even when I was in primary school. I achieved this in 2000, when I completed my Registered Nursing (Child) qualification at Kings College, London.
My first role as a nurse was at Great Ormond Street Hospital where I worked on a general neonatal surgical unit specialising in gastro-intestinal conditions. After gaining valuable experience, I then joined two nursing agencies in London providing both support in complex care packages and various London hospitals in the private and NHS sectors on surgical and medical wards. In 2012, I joined a Children’s Community Team in London, where I worked for seven years. It was a hugely rewarding role, with much of my time spent providing care and treatment for children with cancer.
The experience I gained as a Children’s Community Nurse has proved invaluable in my current role at Prestige Nursing & Care in Shrewsbury as I am able to support our teams of carers and nurses, as well as the children and families we care for to ensure they get a high-quality and competent nurse-led service.
I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1994 at East Surrey Hospital and as a Paediatric Nurse in 2000 at Kingston and St George’s University Hospitals. I have gained a wealth of experience in a variety of settings firstly in adult surgical nursing, then working in the outback of Australia providing paediatric nursing in the community, paediatric care in a hospice and on general paediatric wards. My areas of interest include oncology and high dependency. I have always enjoyed teaching and have been a mentor to many colleagues.
I joined Prestige in April 2018 where I have been given the opportunity to develop in my role. As the Paediatric Clinical Lead and Paediatric Safeguarding Lead for the company, I am particularly proud of the work we have done to further develop our paediatric training.
KIND WORDS FROM ONE OF OUR CLIENTSIN GLOUCESTERSHIRE

CARE MANAGEMENT IN GLOUCESTERSHIRE AND SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRET
Our responsive and reliable care at home service in Gloucestershire means we can put care and support in place quickly and in many cases within 24-hours. Depending on your needs a comprehensive assessment will be conducted by either a registered nurse or our local care expert. We can conduct the assessment at your home, in hospital or in any specialist care setting if you are awaiting discharge back to your own home, enabling a plan of care and support to be developed that meets all your needs.
Our approach to care planning, whether it is for an hourly home care service, respite care or a permanent live-in care arrangement ensures we capture all your preferences and wishes so you can live a contented life in the comfort of your own home. We take time to find the carer that would best meet your care and support needs, making sure they are closely aligned with how you wish to live your life. Once care is in place, our team in Gloucestershire made up of care and clinical experts provide you, your family and our carer with an abundance of on-going support, giving you peace of mind that you or your loved one is receiving the very best home care.
COST OF OUR CARE IN GLOUCESTERSHIRE
The cost of our care is dependent on the level of care and support you require. If you are receiving our hourly care service, the overall cost will be determined by the number of visits and frequency of visits to you at home. Our experts will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your needs at your home, or in hospital if you are awaiting discharge to truly understand what you need and therefore how much care at home will cost.
We know that the cost of our care in Gloucestershire is very competitive when compared with other home care providers in the area. It is worth noting that when comparing the cost of home care with a care package in a care home, that the fee you pay for home care is actually for the care and support you receive. In a care home your weekly fee mainly covers your accommodation, food and social activities with the care package being only a small part of what you pay.
You may be entitled to either social care funding, healthcare funding or Government funding that could contribute to the cost of care at home. If you are faced with having to finance your own home care (known as self-funding care), there are initiatives available to you, including care fees annuities or equity release schemes that could provide the funds you need for your care and support.
