Some people become part of a business. Others become part of its story.
For Fozia, our Payroll Manager for Manchester and Wakefield, it’s safe to say she has done both.
As she celebrates her 50th birthday, we’re taking the opportunity to celebrate not only this milestone, but almost 16 years of dedication, loyalty and commitment to Prestige Nursing & Care and the people who make up our business.
Fozia is about as close as you can get to being a founding member of DHP. She was, in fact, the very first person Danny and Paul employed, working her first shift on Tuesday 7 December 2010.
It wasn’t long before Fozia took over the reins of payroll and became our very own Payroll Queen. Nearly 16 years later, she remains firmly on the throne, now looking after payroll on both sides of the Pennines!
But there is so much more to Fozia than payroll.
Fozia has an incredible work ethic and is 100% committed to Prestige – not just to her own role, but to the business as a whole and, most importantly, to the people within it.
She is thorough, attentive and takes enormous pride in getting things right. She works incredibly hard to make sure that everything is in order and that our teams are paid correctly, often working in some capacity almost every day simply because she wants the peace of mind of knowing everything is right.She is also incredibly reliable. In fact, Fozia takes so little annual leave that we often find ourselves owing her days at the end of the year!
But what really makes Fozia special is the person behind the role.
She is fiercely loyal, incredibly caring and someone who genuinely wants the best for the people around her. If you need someone to listen, a chat, or even a hug, Foz is there.
She is understanding, completely non-judgemental and has a quiet strength about her that is impossible not to admire. Life hasn’t always been kind to Fozia, but despite the challenges she has faced, she has an incredible ability to keep going, give to others and look after the people around her.
And then there’s Fozia’s honesty!
She is a straight talker and, if you ask for her opinion, you can be pretty certain you’re going to get it. There’s no sugar-coating things with Foz!But that honesty always comes from a good place. You know that when Fozia gives you her opinion, it is genuine, considered and comes from someone who truly cares.
She takes a huge amount of personal responsibility for what she does and rarely complains or makes a fuss. More often than not, she is far more concerned about making sure everyone else is okay than worrying about herself.
As one colleague put it, Fozia is a bit like an onion – there are so many layers to her.
She can take a little while to let you in, but once you’re in Fozia’s circle, you’re there for life.
Away from payroll, Fozia is also a volunteer, a talented chef and someone who gives so much of herself to others.
After almost 16 years, she has become such a huge part of DHP and our story. Her contribution goes far beyond numbers, spreadsheets and payroll runs. She represents the loyalty, resilience, care and commitment that makes such a difference to the people around her.
So, as Fozia celebrates her 50th birthday, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate her – not just the Payroll Queen, but the person behind the title.
