JAMES WATSON

BRANCH MANAGER, EAST LANCASHIRE

I have managed the Prestige Nursing & Care branch in East Lancashire since it was established in 2009, with two other family members.  We had all previously had careers in the IT and legal sector and wanted to do something where we could make a difference to people who needed it.

Over the eleven years I have managed Prestige in East Lancashire, I have been extremely proud of the team who are dedicated to supporting people with a variety of needs, some of which are very complex and require a skilled and compassionate approach, as well as helping and supporting their families during what can be a difficult time.

We retain a strong desire and passion to ensure that we impact positively the lives of as many people as possible with our outstanding care services and achieving the best possible outcomes for our clients. We are proud that we have been part of the Prestige Lancashire branch since it was established which has allowed our work ‘family’ to engage with those who require additional care and support, and it means so much to all of us knowing the impact that our care services have on the lives of our clients.

SUE HOLLIDAY

NATIONAL PAEDIATRIC CLINICAL & SAFEGUARDING LEAD

I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1994 at East Surrey Hospital and as a Paediatric Nurse in 2000 at Kingston and St George’s University Hospitals. I have gained a wealth of experience in a variety of settings firstly in adult surgical nursing, then working in the outback of Australia providing paediatric nursing in the community, paediatric care in a hospice and on general paediatric wards. My areas of interest include oncology and high dependency. I have always enjoyed teaching and have been a mentor to many colleagues.

I joined Prestige in April 2018 where I have been given the opportunity to develop in my role. As the Paediatric Clinical Lead and Paediatric Safeguarding Lead for the company, I am particularly proud of the work we have done to further develop our paediatric training.

FLEXIBLE AND HIGHLY-PERSONALISED CARE

Our responsive and reliable care at-home service in East Lancashire means we can put care and support in place quickly and in many cases within 24 hours. Depending on your needs a comprehensive assessment will be conducted by either a registered nurse or our local care expert. We can conduct the assessment at your home, in hospital or any specialist care setting if you are awaiting discharge back to your own home, enabling a plan of care and support to be developed that meets all your needs.

Our approach to care planning, whether it is for an hourly home care service, respite care or a permanent live-in care arrangement ensures we capture all your preferences and wishes so you can live a contented life in the comfort of your own home. We take time to find the carer that would best meet your care and support needs, making sure they are closely aligned with how you wish to live your life.

Once care is in place, our team in East Lancashire made up of care and clinical experts will provide you, your family and our carer with an abundance of ongoing support, giving you peace of mind that you or your loved one is receiving the very best home care.

COST OF OUR CARE IN EAST LANCASHIRE

The cost of our care is dependent on the level of care and support you require. If you are receiving our hourly care service, the overall cost will be determined by the number of visits and frequency of visits to your home. Our experts will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your needs at your home, or in Royal Blackburn or Burnley General Hospital if you are awaiting discharge to truly understand what you need and therefore how much care at home will cost.

We know that the cost of our care in East Lancashire is very competitive when compared with other home care providers in the area.  It is worth noting that when comparing the cost of home care with a care package in a care home, that the fee you pay for home care is actually for the care and support you receive.  In a care home your weekly fee mainly covers your accommodation, food and social activities with the care package being only a small part of what you pay.

You may be entitled to either social care funding, healthcare funding or Government funding that could contribute to the cost of care at home.  If you are faced with having to finance your own home care (known as self-funding care), there are initiatives available to you, including care fees annuities or equity release schemes that could provide the funds you need for your care and support.
