The support people need at home isn’t always practical assistance with daily tasks – many people at risk of loneliness or social isolation could benefit from the emotional and psychological support of a trusted companion carer.
Companionship care is when a professional visits a client at home to help them live life on their own terms. From accompanying you to activities and social groups to simply offering a listening ear over a cup of coffee, our companionship care is flexible and tailored to your needs, so you get the most out of life.
For over 75 years, Prestige Nursing & Care has been trusted by our clients and their families to provide competent and compassionate companionship care at home. Our care is focused on improving health and overall well-being whilst promoting socialisation, and all in the place people love most, their own home.
Our companion carers provide not just practical assistance but also genuine friendship and companionship, understanding that every stage of life deserves to be lived with dignity, respect, and the support of a caring friend.
WHAT IS COMPANIONSHIP CARE?
At Prestige Nursing & Care, we recognise the importance of human connection, especially for the elderly who may find themselves alone for extended periods.
Home companion care is tailored support for people who may not require traditional care but could benefit from the regular company of a warm-hearted individual genuinely invested in their well-being. It’s about more than practical assistance; it’s the assurance that a caring companion will be there to share in the joys, offering a genuine interest in your life.
Our hourly companionship service is designed to bring warmth and connection into your life. This service goes beyond merely offering company; it’s about enhancing well-being and providing peace of mind, especially for loved ones who might live at a distance.
From leisurely strolls in the park to encouraging your favourite hobbies, our devoted companion carers can empower you to live with greater confidence and independence.
WHY IS COMPANIONSHIP FOR THE ELDERLY IMPORTANT?
Elderly people are at increased risk of social isolation and loneliness. In our golden years, when life may take a quieter pace, the value of companionship becomes even more important. Here are some of the many compelling benefits of receiving companionship care at home:
- Greater well-being: Companionship care contributes to overall well-being, encompassing emotional, mental, and physical health.
- Maintain active interests and social networks: A companion carer encourages your hobbies and community networks, promoting an active and fulfilling lifestyle.
- Less loneliness and isolation: Companionship care can help combat feelings of loneliness by fostering meaningful connections and reducing social isolation.
- Engaging conversation and day-to-day support: Enjoy stimulating conversations and practical assistance, enhancing your daily life with enriching interactions.
- Reassurance for yourself and family members: Peace of mind to both the individual and their family, knowing their loved one is enjoying consistent support and companionship.
- Confidence to do the things you love: Gain the confidence to pursue and enjoy activities you love, knowing there’s supportive companionship available.
WHAT CAN OUR COMPANIONSHIP CARERS HELP WITH?
WHY CHOOSE PRESTIGE NURSING & CARE?
See for yourself why our valued clients choose Prestige Nursing & Care to provide the companionship care they need:
A FULLY MANAGED SERVICE
Prestige Nursing & Care is not an agency. Unlike a home care agency, we provide a fully managed and regulated care at home service. This means our clients, their families and our professional partners can be reassured that our care and support is of the highest quality. Families can focus on spending quality time together rather than managing care arrangements.
CQC REGULATED CARE
Our service is inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England and the Scottish Care Inspectorate (SCI) in Scotland. We are proud that 96% of our inspected services have been rated as providing a ‘Good’ service, with 4% rated ‘Outstanding’ in England.
Our accredited service for complex care, which meets local and national quality standards and ensures a consistent approach to the care we provide, provides peace of mind and reassurance that our service is of the highest quality.
RIGOROUS RECRUITMENT & TRAINING PROCESS
Our commitment to excellence starts with our care team. Our rigorous recruitment process ensures only the most qualified and dedicated individuals join our team. Our carers undergo comprehensive training to ensure they possess the skills, knowledge, and compassion required to provide exceptional care. All of our carers have at least six months of care or health sector experience before being placed with a client or community partner.
COMPLEX & SPECIALIST CARE
Our service is nurse-led and our carers are expertly trained to provide care for complex, terminal and other medical conditions. They are supported by a registered home nurse who provides unrivalled monitoring and supervision of our clinical care. With this leadership and oversight, carers can perform many delegated healthcare tasks and interventions at home.
CARE MANAGEMENT LOCAL TO YOU
Our responsive and reliable local nurse-led service allows us to put a care pathway and plan in place quickly and, in many cases, within 24 hours. We work in partnership with healthcare professionals, Case Managers, families and personal injury lawyers to ensure we have an in-depth understanding of a client’s needs. Our local registered nurse will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your needs at home or in any specialist care setting, enabling a plan of care and support to be developed that meets all your needs.
Our approach to care planning, whether for an hourly, respite or live-in care service, ensures we capture all your preferences and wishes so you can live a contented life in the comfort of your home. We take time to find the nursing carer that would best meet your nursing needs, making sure they are closely aligned with how you wish to live your life.
Once care is in place, our local teams, made up of care and clinical experts, will provide you, your family, and our carer with abundant ongoing support. This gives you reassurance that you or your loved one is receiving the very best complex care at home.
COMPANIONSHIP CARE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
Every young adult deserves the opportunity to live with choice and independence. We can support young adults with mobility issues, physical disabilities, mental health conditions or long-term illnesses with highly personalised, one-to-one companionship care directly in their own homes.
Whether it’s accompanying young adults on trips into the local community or helping them access employment and education opportunities, our expert, high-quality home care services support young adults in reaching their goals and encouraging their personal development.
COST OF COMPANIONSHIP CARE
Companionship care costs depend on the level of care and support you require. If you are receiving our hourly home care service, the overall cost will be determined by the number of visits and frequency of visits to you at home.
Our experts will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your needs at your home or hospital if you are awaiting discharge to truly understand what you need and how much companionship care at home will cost.
You may be entitled to either healthcare funding, social care funding or government funding to contribute to the cost of home care. If you are faced with having to finance your own home care (known as self-funding care), there are initiatives available to you, including care fees annuities or equity release schemes that could provide the funds you need for your care and support.
