Our Charities of the Year

Prestige Nursing + Care will be working during 2016 to help raise funds for one of the UK’s leading charities, giving advice and information to older people. At a time when there is so much change within the care industry we feel it is critically important to help support charities that provide such support for older people on a range of important issues.

Independent Age is a growing charity supporting older people across the UK through the ‘ABC’ of advice, befriending and campaigning.

They address the three poverties affecting older people today: financial poverty, poverty of information and poverty of social contact by offering expertise on care, benefits entitlement and local activities, and providing a befriending service to help reduce isolation and loneliness.

Each year, their nationwide advice and information service directly helps thousands of older people, their relatives and carers, while their network of volunteers offers company and support to those who most need it.They use the knowledge and understanding gained from their front line services to campaign for a fair deal for older people: a reasonable income and quality of life, fair access to information and an opportunity to contribute to their communities. All their services are free.

Independent Age has a wealth of free information. The in-depth fact sheets help older people, their families and professionals navigate their way through complex health, care and benefits issues. See Independent Age guides and factsheets
