Living with incontinence can be an emotional and challenging experience, not only for the person affected but also for their loved ones. At Prestige Nursing & Care, we understand the importance of receiving the right support, all delivered with sensitivity, discretion, and utmost respect for personal dignity.
Our professional continence care service helps individuals manage bladder or bowel incontinence in the comfort and familiarity of their own home. With over 80 years of experience providing trusted home care, we know that sensitive personal support can have a powerful impact on confidence and well-being.
Our approach is person-centred, nurse-led, and always focused on improving quality of life, for all of life.
What is continence care?
Continence care is specialist personal support for those who experience difficulty controlling their bladder or bowel. This can include occasional accidents, urgent toileting needs, or more advanced incontinence that requires regular, skilled assistance. While incontinence is common, it can still feel deeply personal and, for many, difficult to talk about.
At Prestige Nursing & Care, we approach continence care with compassion, discretion, and clinical understanding. Our carers provide gentle and respectful help to manage continence needs in a way that promotes comfort and independence.
We support people living with:
- Urinary incontinence
- Bowel incontinence or constipation
- Functional incontinence due to reduced mobility or cognition
- Temporary incontinence following illness, surgery, or injury
- Conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, or dementia
Our goal is to help individuals live as comfortably and confidently as possible, without the worry or embarrassment often associated with incontinence. Through regular, reliable support delivered at home, we enable people to maintain dignity and quality of life.
How our continence care service helps
Our continence care service is designed to support every aspect of day-to-day life for those managing incontinence, all within the comfort and privacy of home. Care is personalised to each person’s specific needs and preferences, and delivered with the care and discretion.
Our expertly trained carers can support with:
- Toileting assistance and routines – Help with getting to and from the toilet safely, maintaining regular bathroom routines, and using assistive equipment.
- Changing continence products – Gentle assistance with pads, incontinence briefs, catheters, or stoma care, where applicable.
- Skin care and hygiene – Regular cleaning and skincare to prevent irritation, infections, or discomfort, especially for those with limited mobility.
- Laundry and changing of bedding or clothing – Support ensuring a clean and comfortable environment is always maintained.
- Monitoring and reporting concerns – Carers can help track symptoms and escalate concerns to family members or healthcare professionals when needed.
- Emotional support and reassurance – Compassionate care that recognises how personal and sensitive these needs can be, delivered with warmth and understanding.
Whether support is needed a few times a week or multiple times a day, our flexible care plans ensure the right level of care is in place, always tailored to the individual and reviewed regularly to reflect changing needs.

continence care for specific needs
Continence care often goes hand in hand with other health conditions or life events. Our carers are trained to adapt and support a wide range of situations, always guided by clinical oversight.
We provide tailored continence care for:
- People living with dementia – Supporting toileting routines with patience and calm reassurance, helping to reduce confusion and anxiety in people living with dementia.
- Post-surgery recovery – Assistance with temporary incontinence after operations or hospital stays, including catheter care and hygiene support.
- Neurological conditions – Expert support for people living with Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, or those recovering from a stroke, where incontinence may be part of a wider care plan.
- Palliative and end-of-life care – Sensitive and respectful continence care that prioritises comfort and dignity during the final stages of life, provided alongside other essential support.
We work closely with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure continence care is not only effective, but holistic, supporting physical comfort, emotional well-being, and daily quality of life.
Competent and compassionate carers
When you choose Prestige Nursing & Care, you can be reassured that the carer who cares for you or your loved one is expertly trained to provide the support you need, to the high standards you should expect. All carers who join us complete our induction training programme, which goes above mandatory requirements.
We adopt a bespoke approach to training that ensures our carers have the knowledge, skills and aptitude to deliver high-quality home care that meets the needs of our clients. If a client is living with a specialist condition like incontinence, we will make sure they are trained and supported to effectively provide the care you need.
We are very proud of our carers – each and every one of them is dedicated to providing compassionate, sensitive and dignified home care that means our clients live a fulfilled and meaningful life, with independence and choice, for all of life.
Clinical excellence at prestige nursing & care
Clinical excellence is at the heart of our culture and approach to service delivery at Prestige Nursing & Care. Our nurse-led home care service is monitored and supported by our experienced regional nursing teams. Our team of qualified regional nurses are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
Each holds a registered nursing qualification in at least one nursing specialism, including general adult nursing, learning and disability nursing, mental health nursing and children’s nursing. They enable the planning and delivery of safe and effective complex care to our clients, which is focused on ensuring the best possible care experience for our clients and their families.
Our nurses work in partnership with our care co-ordinators, carers, clients and families to identify specific care needs and plan the most appropriate care provision, whilst ensuring all our carers have the skills they need to deliver high standards of nurse-led care. They also provide families with ongoing advice and continual support to ensure they feel reassured about the service we provide.
Quality assurance through regulated service provision
Prestige Nursing & Care is not an agency. Unlike a home care agency, we provide a fully managed and regulated care at home service, which means our clients, their families and our professional partners can be reassured that the continence care and support we provide is of the very highest quality.
Our service is inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England and the Scottish Care Inspectorate (SCI) in Scotland. We are proud that 96% of our inspected services have been rated as providing a ‘Good’ service, with 4% rated ‘Outstanding’ and all our services in Scotland have been awarded a five-star rating.
Cost of continence care
The cost of continence care is dependent on the level of care and support you require. If you are receiving our hourly care, the overall cost will be determined by the number and frequency of visits to you at home. Our experts will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your needs at your home, or in hospital if you are awaiting discharge, to truly understand what you need and therefore how much care at home will cost.
We know that our cost of continence care is very competitive when compared with other home care providers. It is worth noting that when comparing the cost of home care with a care package in a care home, the fee you pay for home care is actually for the care and support you receive. In a care home, your weekly fee mainly covers your accommodation, food and social activities, with the care package being only a small part of what you pay.
You may be entitled to either social care funding or healthcare funding to contribute to the cost of continence care at home. There may also be other Government initiatives available and local authority support. If you are faced with having to finance your own home care (known as self-funded care), there are initiatives available to you, including care fees, annuities or equity release schemes that could provide the funds you need for your care and support.
