Happy clients into our second year

Prestige Nursing + Care Carers Week celebrations

Prestige Nursing + Care Carers Week celebrations

Over the week of 9th-15th June Prestige Nursing + Care celebrated Carers Week by recognising the great contribution of informal carers to our local community. We treated a number of clients, and their informal carers, to two hours of free respite services.
One in eight adults in the UK are carers and Carers Week (9th -15th June) celebrated the contribution of the UK’s 6.5 million unpaid carers who, through providing unpaid care, save the Government £119 billion a year.

Hundreds of organisations such as Carers UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, and Age UK took part in order to raise awareness of carers and the invaluable work they do. Carers often commit so much time to caring for a loved one that they lose sight of their own needs. Their dedication often means they are unable to focus on their own lives and many struggle to juggle work and family life, sometimes suffering ill health as a consequence.

With research that shows that those caring for a loved one can often neglect their own needs and might not always make time for themselves, Prestige Nursing + Care decided to offer a number of our clients, who act as informal carers, two free hours of care for their loved one. From 9th – 15th June we arranged for one of our care workers to step-in for two hours to care for their loved one, giving the family carer extra time in their day to do what they normally wouldn’t get a chance to do and to do so with peace of mind in knowing that their loved one was being cared for by Comfort Keepers.

A number of clients commented on the event:

Sarah Gillham, Prestige Nursing + Care client, said: “I give my mum around the clock care but Prestige Nursing + Care provides me with invaluable support on an ongoing basis. It was a complete and wonderful surprise to find out that we would receive two hours of respite care during Carers Week. Myself and my husband were able to take some rare quality time for ourselves and had a lovely afternoon with lunch in a local country pub.”

Marie White, Prestige Nursing + Care client, said:

“Finding out I was able to have two hours to myself during Carers Week was a lovely surprise. Prestige Nursing + Care provides support with personal care for my mother so that I’m able to go out, as well as spend time with my grandchildren. Thanks to Prestige Nursing + Care I was able to have some quality time for myself, which can be a rarity! It was a lovely small break and I was able to wander around the local town and visit a friend who had recently returned home after a major heart operation.”

Prestige Nursing + Care respite care and informal carer support

We understand the importance of you being involved in your loved one’s care, but we also know how important it is for the family carer to have a break once in a while. We offer respite relief to give you this much needed break.

Non-stop caregiving will drain your energy and take a toll on your physical, mental and emotional health. A respite could be just a day away with friends, an afternoon of personal errands, or an exercise break. Or it could be a vacation, away from it all. Prestige Nursing + Care offers a Peace of Mind guarantee which means you can have a small break and recharge your batteries without the worry.
